Alex Threadgold’s law practice draws on over fifteen years of experience in the entertainment business. His clients include bands, recording artists, DJs, songwriters, producers, record companies, management companies, digital developers, software companies, distributors, production companies, designers, apparel companies, authors, chefs, bloggers, creators and entrepreneurs. Prior to joining Savur Threadgold LLP, he was the Director of Business & Legal Affairs for VP Records and its family of companies, including VP’s distribution, music publishing, apparel, booking, and international affiliates. He also worked as an attorney at Selverne, Mandelbaum and Mintz, LLP and Edge Legal (UK) and provided legal services for EMI Music North America and V2 Records.
Alex has worked in label management, artist relations, event production, webcasting, retail, and digital content creation prior to becoming an attorney. Among other projects, Alex executive produced and A&R’d albums with MF Doom and Diplo. This broad base of industry experience informs his holistic approach to advising clients in many facets of media and entertainment.
Alex graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University in 1999. He received his J.D. from Brooklyn Law School in 2006, where he was the recipient of the Jerome Prince Fellowship and the Charles Ortner Entertainment Law Prize. He is admitted to the New York State Bar.
When Alex is out of the office, he is either spending time with his family, listening to vinyl, or camping upstate.
